Eminem: Personal growth turned into career triumph for Eminem in 2010. The Detroit rap king overcame dark addictions and resurfaced as an artist not afraid of confronting himself in a way he hadn’t done so before — or at least this way connected him to fans in a stronger way. His album, Recovery, went on to be a platinum-plus smash and earn him a whopping 10 Grammy nominations. In between those accomplishments, which alone would be good enough to make anyone’s year an incredible one, and dropping a handful of song-stealing guest verse after verse on other artists’ tracks, Em topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Not Afraid,” and “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna. He, along with Jay-Z, also sold out Detroit’s Comerica Park and New York’s Yankee Stadium. To close out the year, he set the Saturday Night Live stage on fire with a performance of “No Love” with Lil Wayne and “Won’t Back Down” and announced plans to return to the big screen.
