Kanye West is a true perfectionist. He gets a thought or concept in his head and he mulls over the best way to execute it–even if it takes months to make it what he believes is perfect. This thought process has churned out some of Ye’s best music videos and other times, this thought process turns out to be the downfall of others.
Sadly, the latter is the case for the long, long, long-awaited music video for Kanye’s All Of The Lights.
A true concept for the video takes a backseat to flashing neon lights (we approve!), 101 free fonts and a cameo from Rihanna‘s boobs in a shockingly sexy top. The video’s featured artists (Rihanna and rapper Kid Cudi) are sorely under-used and the song itself is disappointingly edited (no Fergie?!).
We’re sure somewhere in the epileptic seizure-inducing flashing lights, there’s a deeper meaning (and Kanye will tell us in an all-caps rant on Twitter, we hope), but what is presented falls terribly short and that true meaning may be locked in Ye’s over-analytical head. The video feels incomplete and the excruciating wait for this will leave many disappointed.
All Of The Lights is taken from Kanye West’s stellar latest release, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, in stores now.
