Martina McBride won the most awards last night at the 46th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but it was Taylor Swift who walked away with the night’s top honor.
For the first time in her young career, the country-pop darling earned the trophy for Entertainer of the Year, an award voted on by country music fans.
Swift expressed genuine shock when her name was called, and expressed immense humility while accepting the award.
“This is the first time that I’ve ever won this and I am losing my mind,” Swift said in her acceptance speech. “The fact that this is from the fans makes it so beautiful…you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, ever! Thank you so much.”
Swift beat out Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, McBride, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban for the award.
The crowning moment was even more fitting for Swift after her performance; she performed “Mean,” her bully strike-back anthem in which she sings about letting her successes be her revenge.
