Beyoncé is set to receive an honor worthy of the diva she is.
Billboard will honor the 16-time Grammy-winning superstar with the Billboard Millennium Award as this year’s Billboard Music Awards, Billboard announced yesterday.
Billboard intends to recognize Bey for her “career achievements and influence in the music industry.”
And contrary to one report — which has since been corrected — Billboard did not announce that a special tribute performance for Beyoncé by any fellow artist would accompany the honor.
Beyoncé’s honor is just one reason to look forward to the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, going down May 22 from Las Vegas. The show will include performances by Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Cee-Lo Green, Lady Antebellum, Black Eyed Peas, and Jennifer Lopez.
