Joe Jonas
Joe Jonas finally gave fans a preview of what his debut solo album will sound like by releasing the set’s first single, “See No More.”
The song, co-written by R&B/pop star Chris Brown and produced by Brian Kennedy, finds a maturing Joe trying out different vocal approaches, from a tender falsetto, to a full voice (that, at times, sounds painfully whiny), as he sings about trying to escape his feelings for an ex.
Along with showcasing new vocal tricks, “See No More” shows us Joe wants to leave behind the sweet and simple bubblegum pop of his days as the dreamiest one in the Jonas Brothers. He’s opting now for more rhythm and blues-kissed pop melodies, much like that of his “See No More” co-writer’s.
But, somehow, he still just sounds like a JoBro trying too hard to capture a more mature audience. His solo introduction is passable, but it doesn’t feel authentic. Even Nick’s venture into classic rock felt less contrived. And if the footage of Joe practicing dance moves is a tell, things are only going to get more yikes!-worthy.
Take a listen to “See No More” below, and see if you want to hear more from Joe’s solo debut, out in September:

I love it !!!! I do!!! it’s amazing! it’s such a new sound! i love it!
It’s okay. But not great! Way too much layering, repetition, Chris Brown and other studio creations. His voice is covered up by everything they are trying to do in one song. Does he have the talent to do it without all of this or not. Probably won’t buy it. Maybe his others will be better.
Heard the debut this morning. Wasn’t that impressed.

I think it’s great, vocals and musicality. it may not the best but I am truly impressed. I am excited to hear more music from Joe and I think he is off to a wonderful start.
SO GOOD FOR ME!
Not my cup of tea. Can’t tell that his voice is good enough to stand as a soloist. Not going to buy his album. If that’s the cover for his album……..looks cheap to me, sorry!
