New Video: Rebecca Black Is No Longer (Fun, Fun, Fun) Funny In “My Moment”

Rebecca Black in "My Moment"

We can admit it. We fell under the spell of Rebecca Black‘s super terrible, yet uber-catchy debut single and video for “Friday.” Of course, we weren’t alone. Everyone from Chris Brown to Lady Gaga and especially Katy Perry, who invited Black to be in her video for “Last Friday Night,” got in on the end-of-the-week anthem craze.

But the 14-year-old internet sensation is trying to leave her smash hit behind and forge ahead with the rest of her career with new music and new music videos.

She’s now offering up “My Moment,” her answer to the haters who thought she’d be nothing, but who now have to bow down because she’s having fun, fun, fun, fun in the spotlight and they’re, like, not. She illustrates this in the song’s just-released video.

Sadly, “My Moment” is nothing like “Friday.” It’s not awesomely bad. It’s just bad. Where “Friday” was so obviously just for fun and laughs, “My Moment” seems to be an actual attempt at a career. And that’s where it fails. Rebecca’s painfully flat vocals (and yikes!-worthy dance moves) are cool when we’re all supposed to just laugh along with her about them. But now that she’s really trying, laughing just seems to be…cruel — but we can’t help it. Sadz.

Even sadder, more music is on the way. According to Billboard, Rebecca will release a five-track EP in August.
