Glee’s 3D Concert Film A Flop At Box Office

Sony

Looks like the gleeks stopped believin’ this weekend; Glee’s 3D concert movie is a flop.

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie took in just $5.7 million at the box office since being released on Friday (August 12), The Hollywood Reporter reports. The measly sum wasn’t enough to get the film to break into the top 10; it debuts at No. 11.

The movie, which follows most of the Glee cast behind the scenes then on stage at their nationwide concert tour, faced some steep competition from new flicks (the Emma Stone-featured The Help, the Jesse Eisenberg/Aziz Ansari buddy comedy 30 Minutes or Less) and older releases still going strong (the No. 1 flick Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Smurfs in 3D).

There is some good news. According to Billboard, the Glee: 3D Concert Movie soundtrack is expected to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart.
