James Durbin - Wind-Up
It’s official! American Idol season 10′s resident rocker, James Durbin, has scored a record deal.
The fan-favorite contestant has signed a recording contract with Wind-Up Records, the label officially announced late yesterday (September 6). Wind-Up Records has a rock-heavy artist roster that includes Evanescence, Scott Stapp and Seether, but also dabbles in pop with acts like Disney actress Emily Osment.
“Wind-up Records isn’t a label, it’s a family and I wanted to be a part of that.,” Durbin said in a statement. “They are true music fans that want to see me have a long career as an artist. I couldn’t have asked for more when signing a record deal.”
James Durbin’s debut album for Wind-Up will be released in November.
During his season, James earned rave reviews from the judges for his performances and piercing vocal range. Often pegged “the one to beat,” fans were shocked when Durbin was voted off of the reality singing competition in fourth place. Country crooner, Scotty McCreery, would go on to become the season 10 winner.

The news makes James the latest season 10 star with a recording deal. Earlier this year it was announced that contestant Pia Toscano and third place finisher Haley Reinhart had landed deals. Both have signed with Interscope Records and their debut albums are due later this year.
