Sheer pandemonium took center stage at Baltimore, Maryland’s Pier Six Pavilion when the newly revamped Scream Tour: NXG (The Next Generation) came roaring into town.
Teens, tweens, their parents and cougars would pack the outside venue for a look at some of today’s hottest young acts. On the bill was rapper Diggy Simmons, r&b/pop foursome Mindless Behavior, New Boyz, Jacob Latimore, Hamilton Park and the “R U The Next Scream Star?” contest winners, the OMG Girlz. Each act would give their all on stage (except for one…more on that in a bit) to give a memorable performance but it’s the unexpected moments and pure crowd chaos that would make this a night that won’t easily be forgotten.
Rap/pop duo the New Boyz appeared on stage for their set and all was well for their first number. By the time they got ready to launch into their next song, things got quiet–at least for their DJ. They announced to the audience of eager teens that they were experiencing technical difficulties but they should be back shortly. As time went on and on (and on and on!), the guys would try to fill it with stories, the shortest game of truth or dare and fan face time by jumping off the stage and into the audience. They hopped back on stage, announced that the technical difficulties weren’t their fault and walked off stage for a break.
The break would turn out to be permanent as the New Boyz would never return. Instead, Diggy Simmons appeared on stage for his set and got the tour back on track. Mindless Behavior ended things on a high note with songs from their debut album, #1 Girl.
