Report: Kelly Clarkson To Help Blake Shelton Mentor Contestants On ‘The Voice’

Christina Aguilera won’t be the only pop diva offering her words of wisdom on this upcoming season of The Voice. Kelly Clarkson is joining the team.

According to the New York Post, Clarkson will be helping her good pal and current The Voice coach Blake Shelton mentor his crop of singers much like her idol Reba McEntire did last season.

The move may seem a little touchy to some as The Voice competes with American Idol, the show that made Clarkson a star. Still, Kelly’s allegiance to Idol hasn’t stopped her from being an outspoken supporter of The Voice in the past. “The thing I love about ‘The Voice’ is that they’re more mentors — they’re not judges,” Clarkson said in an interview last September. “I would never really want to be a judge, just because I don’t want to break people’s hearts.”

Kelly’s episode of The Voice will reportedly air in March or April. Until then, you can see Kelly doing what she does best — sing — as musical guest on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live.
