Madonna kept her part of her spectacular Super Bowl halftime show clean, but leave it to the always controversial M.I.A. to stir up some drama.

During her verse on Madge’s new single, “Give Me All You Luvin’,” as she rapped “I don’t give a sh*t,” M.I.A. could be seen giving the camera the middle finger salute.

M.I.A. may not give a you know what, but NBC and the NFL do. They both issued apologies to the viewers for the star’s “obscene” and “inappropriate” gesture.

“The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing and we apologize to our fans,” said Brian McCarthy, spokesman for the NFL, who noted M.I.A. did nothing of the sort during rehearsals.

NBC did a little finger-pointing of their own before saying their “I’m Sorry.” “The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC spokesman Christopher McCloskey said. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”
