Nicki Minaj made sure to leave an impression on the 54th annual Grammy Awards audience with a performance that was spirited to say the least.
Nicki put her acting skills to good use during her debut performance of her new song, “Roman Holiday.” She started the performance by acting demented while singing her own version of “I Feel Pretty” over the “Roman’s Revenge” beat. The performance then cuts to a recorded clip called “The Exorcism of Roman” where Roman loses her ever-loving mind. The nutty acts continues with fire, priests and Nicki levitating in the middle of the stage. Nicki gets a high mark for her effort but it all came across as comical instead of artistic.
“Roman Holiday” is the latest offering from Nicki’s official sophomore album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.” The set is due this spring. Watch the performance below:
Maybe it was just me being annoyed with the entire awards show last night, but Nicki Minaj’s performance BY FAR was fucking horrible. I seriously couldn’t believe what I was hearing it was so bad…
I’m a HUGE fan on Nicki Minaj, but I don’t mindlessly like everything she does like some crazy fans of hers and Lady Gaga.
I didn’t even understand the melody or rhythm until I watched the performance again. It was very try-hard and it’s really annoying that she makes a bunch of promises and doesn’t live up to them. She pushed back her album date and every single video release date. She was also supposed to have the iTunes for “Romany Holiday” up immediately after the show, but that’s obviously nowhere to be found. And “Starships”, her first single, was supposed to premiere today too. Despite my dislike for Lady Gaga’s extreme try-hard nature as well, I have to commend her for always living up to her promises. It shows that there’s worth in what she says and that she puts in the effort to make sure she follows through with what she promises her fans.
