The famous coaches of The Voice still have spots to fill on their teams and Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton will do it with more blind auditions on the hit singing competition.
During the fourth round of blind auditions, we meet soulful crooners and talented teens all hoping to get one of these superstars to turn their chairs around and pick them. It won’t be easy though. With the talent being so stiff this year, the coaches are being super selective with who they do take through to the next round.
Let’s take a look at some of the people who did manage to land on a team:
Jonathas: Jonathas moved to America from Brazil when he was 5 years old because his mom wanted a better life for their family. Now as a young dad of two, he wants to do the same for his family. He pops on stage and gets all kinds of soulful to Usher’s “U Got It Bad,” dazzling Cee-Lo and Christina in the process. Cee-Lo lays it on thick but in the end, Christina wins the Usher sound-alike for her team.
Monique Benabou: Monique had to grow up fast as a kid to help her mom fight breast cancer. She feels like getting through would be a big thank you to her parents and lucky enough for her, her performance of Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know It All,” was good enough to land a spot on Team Xtina.
Charlotte Sometimes: This name sounds all too familiar. Maybe that’s because Charlotte was Neon Limelight’s very first interview ever (read the interview here)! The singer was signed to Geffen Records and released her album, “Waves and the Both of Us” in 2008. Proving that ‘The Voice’ is the show for second chances, Charlotte looks to be getting one as her performance of OneRepublic’s “Apologize” got all four coaches to turn around. She eventually hops on Team Blake and onto a second shot in the music business.
Tony Vincent: Tony’s a Broadway star who wants to now focus his attention on his pop/rock singing career. His fiery performance of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” got just Cee-Lo to turn around but that’s enough to land on the show.
Jamie Lono: Jamie’s been working in a sandwich shop for the last few years but dreaming of his chance to make it big. His bluesy yet soulful performance of “Folsom Prison Blues” has got him well on his way. With only a few lines of the song out, Adam presses his button for the singer. A little further in and he’s got Cee-Lo as well. Adam and Cee-Lo battle it out but team red and black wins as Cee-Lo scores another good one.
Justin Hopkins: Justin’s got a little bit of a connection to “The Voice”– he worked as part of the house band for host Carson Daly’s late night show. In order for him to continue on with music, Justin feels something big needs to happen. The singer gets on stage and performs “Babylon,” prompting Cee-Lo to turn around. Lucky Justin because that’s exactly who he wanted to work with.
Mathai: Mathai has decided to forego a future in the medical field to pursue her passion in music. By the looks of her audition, this was a pretty smart idea. The teen performs Adele’s “Rumor Has It,” and gets Adam, Cee-Lo and Blake to turn around. She’s convinced by Adam’s salesman pitch and jump on his team.
