Adele‘s week couldn’t be getting any better. Fresh off of her big wins at the 2012 BRIT Awards, including the awards show’s biggest trophy for “Album of  the Year.” the singer/songwriter is learning that her latest album will remain at the top of the charts–crushing the competition in album sales.

“21″ stays put at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart after selling a mind-blowing 730,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan as reported by Billboard.com. The 207% increase in sales is courtesy of the “GRAMMY effect,” a fancy name that simply means the exposure at the awards show helped boost sales.

The additional week at No. 1 helps Adele hit several milestones with this album. This is 21′s 21st non-consecutive week at the top of the main albums chart and it’s also the album’s largest sales week ever.

Adele’s debut album also benefits from the GRAMMYs exposure. “19″ sells 87,000 copies, enough to land at No. 4 on this week’s chart.

Others artists seeing GRAMMY effect gains include Bruno Mars, whose debut album “Doo-wops & Hooligans” sits at No. 8, Lady Antebellum and their album, “Own The Night,” at No. 9 and The Civil Wars with ”Barton Hollow” closing out the top 10.

Late pop/r&b legend Whitney Houston‘s greatest hits collection, “Whitney: The Greatest Hits,” jumps No. 6 to No. 2 on the chart after selling 175,000 copies in the first full week following her shocking death. The set is one of seven of Whitney’s albums and soundtracks currently on the chart.
