As if there weren’t enough reality singing competitions on TV now, television network ABC is throwing its hat in the ring with their new show, “Duets.” To help launch the show, they’ve tapped some big names as the show’s mentors.

Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles and the legendary Lionel Richie have all been confirmed to star on the new show that will see the stars traveling the country to find talented singers. According to the press release for the show, the mentors will then pick two singers as their duet partners and they’ll perform together each week. The winner of the show will score a record deal with Hollywood Records. The Disney-owned label is the home of stars like Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and more.

“The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing that I can’t wait to be a part of,” Kelly said in a statement. “I am eager to pass along a few of the nuggets of wisdom that I have received throughout my 40-year career,” Richie added.

The new mentoring gig brings things full-circle for Kelly Clarkson. The singer was of course the very first winner of Fox’s American Idol 10 years ago.

Coincidentally, Clarkson, Robin Thicke and Lionel Richie are all acting as guest coaches on NBC’s certified hit singing competition, The Voice.

“Duets” will premiere this summer.
