Usher has just unleashed his new single, and he wants to make you “Scream.” And you will… not in the good, sexual way Ush sings about on the frisky track (the lyrics to the chorus: “If you wanna scream ‘yeah,’ let me know and I’ll take you there/Get you going like a-ooh baby baby, ooh baby baby, a-ooh baby baby, ooh baby/If you want it done right, hope you’re ready to go all night”). You’ll scream out of disappointment and sheer frustration. Disappointment because, after taking it to the next level with the Diplo-produced, electro-R&B stunner “Climax,” which could easily be one of the best songs released all year, Ush has gone back to making yet another generic, albeit catchy, dance-pop track that any other singer could have done. And frustration because you begin to wonder if Usher knows he’s better than this swill he’s pushing. Le. Sigh.
