Simon Cowell is looking to draw young peepers to TV screens to watch the second season of X Factor USA, so he’s looking to add a teen idol to the judges’ panel. That teen idol could be Demi Lovato. Or it could be Miley Cyrus. It depends on which new report turns out to be true.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that 19-year-old singer/actress Lovato, who won tween and teen hearts as a Disney star, is being courted to fill the fourth judge seat. (Cowell, and L.A. Reid will return, and Britney Spears‘ deal as the third judge is pretty much done.) “Although the deal is not yet done and could fall apart, sources say Lovato’s team is in final negotiations for the job,” reads THR’s report.
Celebuzz, on the other hand, says Cyrus, also 19 and a former Disney queen, could be closing in on the job. “There have been talks with Miley,” a source told the site.
Spears and Cyrus or Lovato would fill in for fired season 1 judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
Reps for Lovato, Cyrus, Cowell, and Fox all passed on commenting on the talks. But many assume an announcement regarding the final judging lineup could come when Fox holds its upfronts on May 14.
