The final four singers on The Voice had one last chance to impress America and get them to vote for them. Every single vote is important as fan votes will be the only thing to determine the winner of season two of the hit reality singing competition.
Some singers stuck with the style of music that has gotten them this far while others tried something a little new–and cause a little controversy while doing so. Will playing it safe win over or will it come down to taking a risk? Only time will tell.
Until the votes are revealed in the big finale later tonight, take a look at what happened during the very last live performance show of the season.
Jermaine Paul (Team Blake) – “I Believe I Can Fly”: Although this song has been performed a million times on these kinds of shows, Jermaine’s performance was probably one of the most heartfelt. And boy, did he sound fantastic! “That song was made for you,” Christina Aguilera said. “That’s what this show is about.” “My heart is in my throat right now,” an emotional Blake Shelton said of his last artist. “I’m speechless and for a lot of reasons.”
Tony Lucca (Team Adam) – “99 Problems”: Tony brought out his showman side and got the audience involved in his performance of this flipped around version of Jay-Z’s hit single. The crowd loved it but as always, Tony managed to spark debate among the coaches. “Tonight you came here and you know, I know your beautiful wife and your daughter and family are here tonight and I just thought the lyrical connotation was a little derogatory towards women but all in all, it was good fun,” Xtina said. Adam Levine stepped in to defend his artist. He says the lyric is about “life getting at you, things bringing you down. We’re not referring to women. We’re referring to everything.” “It’s called a metaphor,” he snapped back at Christina when she brought up the “if you’re having girl problems…” lyric.
Chris Mann (Team Christina) – “You Raise Me Up”: Chris brought his coach to tears with his moving performance of this Josh Groban smash. The other coaches loved it too. “You are by far one of the most incomparable vocalist I’ve ever heard,” Cee-Lo Green said. “You are so completely cool to me just the way that you are.” “Every show, you’ve really proven that you got here by true talent and voice alone and you stood on your own and you really stuck to your guns and you let your voice just shine,” a teary Xtina said.
Juliet Simms (Team Cee-Lo) – “Freebird”: Juliet rocked the house as the final performer of the night. And she did it all while suffering from pneumonia. “What you do is just so incredible,” Adam said. “Great job! You killed it under the circumstances,” Xtina added. “I have one thing to say: With Juliet Simms on my team, I have no problems,” Cee-Lo said while wearing a “No Problems” tshirt.
