Just as predicted, Chris Brown‘s new album, Fortune, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The accomplishment gives the R&B/pop star his second consecutive No. 1 album on the chart, following the success of its 2011 predecessor, F.A.M.E.
While F.A.M.E. and Fortune match their debut chart positions, their first-week sales are hardly identical. According to Billboard, Fortune, Breezy’s fifth album, sold 134,000 copies in its first week of release. By comparison, F.A.M.E. brought in 270,000 copies.
In other chart news, Katy Perry is on the rise. Her concert movie Katy Perry: Part Of Me is a certified box office flop, taking in just $11 million over the weekend, but it has brought new attention to her Teenage Dream album. The set, released in summer 2010, zooms to No. 2 on the chart, having sold an amazing 80,000 copies this week.
