A lot has been written about Rita Ora as she starts her ascent into the mainstream pop stratosphere, but not everything is exactly true. The British babe covers the August/September 2012 cover of Complex Magazine posing as a sexy foreign exchange student, and uses her cover story interview to take on the misconceptions.
Misconception one: The Rita Ora/Rihanna rivalry. It’s just not there. Sorry, stan war enthusiasts. “I admire Rihanna,” Rita said in the interview. “She works her ass off. She hasn’t had a break and she has given people hit after hit after hit. That work ethic and discipline is hardcore. That’s the kind of sh*t that I want to do. That I will do.”
Misconception two: She’s not exactly dating reality star Rob Kardashian. Sure, they may double-date with Kanye West and Rob’s sister Kim Kardashian from time to time, but they’re not exactly in a relationship, she says. “I mean, it’s not really a relationship,” she said in response to the trials on a long-distance relationship. “It’s not that intense. He’s a cool guy. We’re close. We’re good friends. I got his back and he’s got mine. To me, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from—if you’re a good person and you got my back, I got yours. It’s that easy for me.”
