Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are leading the way with the most nominations at the 2012 American Music Awards, which were announced by Christina Aguilera today (October 9) in Hollywood.
The two pop divas are up for four nominations each. RiRi’s vying for awards in Favorite Pop/Rock Female, Favorite R&B Female, Favorite Album R&B, and Artist Of The Year, and Nicki’s up for Favorite Pop/Rock Female, Favorite Album Pop/Rock, Favorite Hip Hop Artist, and Favorite Album Hip Hop/Rap.
Other artists going head to head with Rihanna for Artist Of The Year include Justin Bieber, Drake, Maroon 5, and Katy Perry.
Looking to take the coveted Favorite New Artist Of The Year award home are J. Cole, fun., Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen, and One Direction.
Other artists with multiple nominations include Drake, Bieber, Perry, Usher, Chris Brown, Carrie Underwood, and Kelly Clarkson.
Aguilera, who is releasing her new album, Lotus, on November 13, is the AMA’s first confirmed performer. More will be announced in the coming weeks.
The 2012 American Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles on November 18 on ABC.
