Fox sort of made good on their promise to fix the mess that was made of last week’s episode of the X Factor USA when the rain-delayed St. Louis Cardinals versus the San Francisco Giants baseball game ruined their prime-time schedule. Last week on the east coast, fans only saw part of the top 16 contestants revealed as the final judge’s house episode was delayed and cut off by showings of Fox’s new comedies. Most markets only saw Britney Spears select her teens, L.A. Reid choose his over 25s and Demi Lovato pick two of her four young adults. Last night (October 23), the remaining contestant were revealed and the results were a bit shocking.
At Demi’s house, singers Jennel Garcia and Willie Jones easily made it to the next round. Rapper Nick Youngerman wasn’t so lucky, receiving the news that he was going home next. Things took an emotional turn when Demi spoke to Paige Thomas, the young mother who auditioned with such confidence but paired against the feisty CeCe Frey for much of the boot camp round, cracked under pressure. Demi reassured Paige that no matter what happens, she’d be a great mom but questioned if this was the right journey for her. As Paige started to cry (even more than before), Demi let her know that she would be making it to the next round.
This left only one space on Demi’s team for the live shows and still waiting to hear the results was the always dramatic, mostly unlikable CeCe Frey and fan favorite Jillian Jensen. Demi sits down her final singers individually and tells them their strengths and weaknesses. She ultimately reveals that CeCe has made it to the next round and Jillian would be eliminated.
At Simon Cowell‘s house, his groups are waiting to hear the good or bad news. Receiving good news was the judges formed group Lyric145 (consisting of Lyric Da Queen and group 145), Emblem3, Sister C and the judges created group Lylas (consisting of solo singers Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane Hansen, Camilla Cabello and Normani Hamilton). Getting not so good news was duo Dope Crisis and the newly formed Playback (consisting of Austin Corini, Brandon Hassan, Johnny Maxwell, Josh Metzler and Owen Stuart).
