Rihanna is shining bright on top of the charts this week. The pop goddess’ latest single, “Diamonds,” has just hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, ending Maroon 5‘s nine-week reign with “One More Night,” and becoming RiRi’s 12th No. 1 on the chart.
The Sia-penned tune joins RiRi’s previous No. 1s, amassed in just seven years, “S.O.S,” “Umbrella,” “Take A Bow,” “Disturbia,” “Live Your Life” (with T.I.), “Rude Boy,” “Love The Way You Lie” (with Eminem), “What’s My Name” featuring Drake, “Only Girl (In The World),” “S&M,” and “We Found Love.”
“Diamonds” has reached the chart pinnacle just as the album it’s taken from, Unapologetic, is released. The set, Rihanna’s seventh, is on its way to big opening week numbers. According to Hits Daily Double, Unapologetic could sell between 240-260k copies, giving RiRi her biggest opening sales week yet (the honor previously belonged to LOUD with 207k copies), and, more importantly, giving her a real shot at getting her very first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
