Seven is a lucky number for Rihanna. The pop queen’s seventh studio album, Unapologetic, has become her very first No. 1 album in the United States.
The set, bolstered by its Sia-penned lead single, “Diamonds,” tops the Billboard 200 albums chart this week on the strength of 238,000 copies sold in its first week of release. That sales sum also gives RiRi the best opening sales week of her career, beating 2010’s LOUD, which brought in 207,000 copies in its debut week.
Unapologetic’s No. 1 opening comes a week after RiRi notched her 12th No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with “Diamonds.” The tune joins RiRi’s previous No. 1s, amassed in just seven years, “S.O.S,” “Umbrella,” “Take A Bow,” “Disturbia,” “Live Your Life” (with T.I.), “Rude Boy,” “Love The Way You Lie” (with Eminem), “What’s My Name” featuring Drake, “Only Girl (In The World),” “S&M,” and “We Found Love.”
Unapologetic and “Diamonds” are also unapologetically slaying across the pond. Both are currently No. 1 hits in the UK as well.
That Rihanna reign will never let up.
