Only eight singer remain on The Voice and last night (November 26), they hit the stage to give unforgettable performances.
The top eight singers from teams Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee-Lo Green and Christina Aguilera revamped songs from Justin Bieber, Adele and more to entertain the crowd and viewers at home. They’re all just hoping they did enough to receive enough votes to stay in the competition–especially Xtina and her last singer, Dez Duron.
Here’s what happened when the top eight on season three of The Voice took the live performance night stage:
Amanda Brown – Team Adam: Amanda and Adam decided to take Adele’s “Someone Like You” up 500 notches with a more upbeat, rock version and it was kind of awesome! Amanda started out smooth and ended it by kicking the song’s booty with the more edgy arrangement. Blake absolutely loved that she took an Adele song and made it an Amanda song. Xtina liked it but she’s still waiting for the magic that happened on her earlier performance of “Dream On.”
Cody Belew – Team Cee-Lo: After a weak performance last week, Cody is back in the freaking game! Cody delivered an awesome performance of Queen’s “Somebody To Love.” Who knew he could pull off a song so big? And incorporate a little of his “bam bam?!’ We loved it! Adam thought it loved the song choice and thought it was a great performance. Xtina loves that he continues to show different sides of himself with his performances.
Terry McDermott – Team Blake: Terry decided to sing “Over” by his coach, Blake Shelton, so that he could show a different side to himself. Xtina thought it was a little unexpected but still a solid performance. Blake says Terry performed the song the way he wished he always could and proved that he’s “the real deal.”
Melanie Martinez – Team Adam: Melanie took on Alex Clare’s “Too Close” and did a pretty fantastic job. Her vocals were good but it was the stage setting really sold it. The teen used her guitar and the tambourine with her foot. Awesome! The staging had Xtina taking notes for her own live performances. Cee-Lo applauded Mel and Adam for their cool arrangements.
Dez Duron – Team Christina: Dez’s performance of Justin Bieber’s “U Smile” had all the makings of awesomeness but it just kind of came up short. The arrangement was a bit off and his voice just wasn’t as luscious as it’s been in the past. With Dez being the only member left on Team Xtina, now is not the time to take steps back. Cee-Lo didn’t think it was his best performance but still liked it. Xtina thought he revamped the song and made it his own.
Trevin Hunte – Team Cee-Lo: Another stunning performance from this teen wonder. Trevin’s performance of Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love Of All” was a little predictable but there’s no denying the truly beautiful moments the performance had. And the ending? Nice, really nice! Adam thinks Trevin can sing anything he wants and he hopes heaven resembles the performance.
Nicholas David – Team Cee-Lo: Nicholas gave nothing but sweet, sweet soul with his performance of “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye. Adam is totally sold and says he’ll be a fan of his forever. Cee-Lo just gushed about his act and the “healing” quality of his performances.
Cassadee Pope – Team Blake: Blake and Cassadee pick the absolute best songs together. This week, she’s taking on Michelle Branch’s “Are You Happy Now,” a song that’s just perfect for her voice. She, like she’s done in the past, owns the performance. Cee-Lo is not happy because it was great and she’s not on his team. Adam (after reliving the horror of opening for Michelle Branch at The Roxy and telling everyone not to go there again) declared her the front-runner.
