It was a shocking and sad elimination night on The Voice’s live results show last night (November 27). Two great singers received the boot, leaving one coach without a team. So who went home?
Christina Aguilera‘s last man standing, Dez Duron, was cut from the show in a double elimination. Although Duron did not give his best performance on this week’s live top eight performance show (Dez performed a crooner version of Justin Bieber‘s “U Smile“), the results were still surprising as he’s given remarkable performances in the past.
“Sending love & respect for @DezDuron!!,” Christina said on Twitter not long after the results were revealed. “You were amazing on #TheVoice & your journey is only beginning. #TeamXtina family always!”
Dez, as you might recall, originally auditioned in season two of the hit reality singing competition. After singing a Backstreet Boys song, not one coach turned their chairs for him although Xtina expressed regret soon after his departure. He re-auditioned for season three with a smoldering performance of “Sara Smile” and was able to impress three coaches, ultimately choosing Team Xtina.
“Thank you for taking this journey with me. I learned so much on #TheVoice,” Duron tweeted. “This is just the beginning. #TeamDez #bestisyettocome”
Dez wasn’t the only act getting a pink slip. Team Cee-Lo Green lost his first act: pop/soul singer Cody Belew. Belew went out on a high note, giving a rousing performance of Queen‘s “Somebody To Love” during the top eight performance show.
The top 6 singers are:
Team Adam Levine: Melanie Martinez, Amanda Brown
Team Blake Shelton: Terry McDermott, Cassadee Pope
Team Cee-Lo Green: Nicholas David, Trevin Hunte
