Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen both got dolled up to be honored at Billboard’s annual Women In Music event, held today (November 30) at Capitale in New York City. Perry, who spent the year putting the finishing touches on her epic Teenage Dream era, was named Woman Of The Year, while Jepsen, who made a huge splash this year with her ubiquitous smash “Call Me Maybe” and its follow-up “Good Time,” was named this year’s Rising Star.
“I am not a feminist, but I do believe in the strength of women,” Billboard quoted Katy as saying during her speech. “I don’t really like to call myself a role model for my fans. I hope that I am an inspiration for them, especially young women. My mantra, especially for the ['Part Of Me'] film, was: If you believe in yourself, you can be anything.”
Watching Katy receive the honor were her parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, plus fellow singers Ciara and Cher Lloyd.
