Justin Bieber took to Twitter last night promising he’d be making a “big announcement” on today’s episode of Ellen, and he delivered. The 18-year-old pop sensation announced he’d be releasing an new acoustic album in January.
According to MTV, the album is called Believe Acoustic, and it will contain seven cuts from the Biebz latest album, including the singles “Boyfriend” and “As Long As You Love Me,” done unplugged style.
“It’s something I think the fans really like,” Biebz said of releasing the stripped back album.”I started out on YouTube just playing my guitar, just singing without all the production and stuff, so I like to just put out acoustic albums. I think it’s more intimate.”
Biebz gave fans a taste of what’s in store on the album by taking the Ellen stage to perform his acoustic version of “As Long As You Love Me” following the interview, during which he also spoke out about his recent Grammy snub. “It’s definitely something I was looking forward to,” he said, “but I know that it will happen one day. I’m blessed to just be able to do what I love everyday.”
