Only three singers remain on season three of The Voice and last night (December 17), they all went head to head to head, giving performances they hope will help them win the competition.
Team Blake Shelton and Team Cee-Lo Green‘s remaining acts would sing one new song and reprise songs they previously sang that gave them a true moment in the competition. Everybody put their best foot forward but it was the last girl standing, Cassadee Pope, that really made this finals performance night her own. Here what went down as the final three singers took the stage to compete for America’s votes for the very last time.
Nicholas David – Team Cee-Lo: Nicholas was hot, hot, hot during his upbeat performance of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” mashed up with Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire.” No, really. He was hot! Did you see him pouring sweat? Glaze of sweat aside, Nick rocked the crowd and got the coaches moving. “I’m so happy that you decided to moment to just entertain this crowd,” Adam Levine said.
Cassadee Pope – Team Blake: For her breakout performance song, Cassadee chose to sing the emotional “Over You.” It was gorgeously done just like the first time she performed it but that last note might have been even better this time around. Christina Aguilera thinks she nailed it once again and that she can sing anything. Adam, noting how shiny Cass’ dress was, loved how finely tuned her voice is.
Nicholas David – Team Cee-Lo: Nicholas reprised his performance of “Lean On Me,” spilling nothing but soul all over the piano he played along with the tune. “Doing that song justice is a hard thing to do and you do justice to it every time you sing it,” Adam said. “You never cease to amaze me” his coach said, adding that he loves him.
Terry McDermott – Team Blake: Although Mr. Mister’s “Broken Wings” doesn’t sound like a good choice for a finale song, Terry and his massively big voice really sold it. This guy can truly sing anything! Adam pointed out a technical glitch that happened at the beginning of Terry’s performance but praised him for not only getting over it but nailing the performance despite it.
Terry McDermott – Team Blake: Terry doing Foreigner’s “I Wanna Know What Love Is” will never not be good. He performed the stripped back rendition that made everyone stand up and really take notice of him and brought it on home once again. Xtina gave him major thumbs up for his work ethic while his coach said he “absolutely drives me crazy because you blow me away.”
Cassadee Pope – Team Blake: Cassadee may be a pop/rocker chick but she may want to seriously consider doing country for a living because she nails it every single time. This time, she performed Faith Hill’s “Cry” and knocked it out of the park. Adam said she did an amazing job while her coach said he’s never heard her sing as good as she did tonight.
