Season three of NBC’s hit reality singing competition show, The Voice, had some of its best talent yet but only one could walk away the winner. On last night’s (December 18) live finale results show, a new winner was name and they came from Team Blake Shelton.
Former Hey Monday lead singer Cassadee Pope was crowned the latest winner of The Voice after scoring the most votes from America. She becomes the series’ first female winner and Blake’s second act the win the competition, joining last season’s winner Jermaine Paul in Blake’s winners’ circle (Adam Levine won season one with singer Javier Colon).
“I’m feeling amazing,” a stunned Cassadee said right after her big win. “Thank you to everyone who voted for me and all the fans, Blake, the producers, wardrobe, hair and makeup, Carson [Daly], the band…Christina [Aguilera], everybody. Seriously, it’s been so fun.”
Cassadee made a huge impression from her very first blind audition. The singer stormed the stage performing Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn,” getting all four coaches to turn for her. Since then, the pop/rock singer and sometimes country-dabbler has given stand-out performances like her emotional performance of Miranda Lambert‘s “Over You,” which she reprised on the finals performance show.
In third place was Cee-Lo Green‘s soulful singer and last team member standing Nicholas David, leaving Blake’s other singer, classic rocker Terry McDermott, to take second place.
Cassadee’s win concluded a star-studded season three finale that included performance from Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and more. Season four of The Voice, with new coaches Usher and Shakira, will premiere on March 25, 2013.
