Former Hey Monday lead singer Cassadee Pope was just crowned the latest winner of The Voice but she’s already making the promotional rounds. The pop/rock singer got up bright and early for a performance on this morning’s (December 20) Live with Kelly and Michael.
For her performance, she sang one of her standouts from the competition: the Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton co-written song “Over You.” Just like she did on The Voice, she impressed everyone in the room. Host Kelly Ripa even commented on the “angelic” quality of her voice.
During her interview, she explains why she ended up choosing Blake as her mentor even though everyone wanted her. “I had watched the seasons past and I really liked how he just let his artists do their thing,” she said. It came down to the star wanting “creative freedom.”
Cassadee beat out classic rocker Terry McDermott and soul singer Nicholas David to become the first female contestant to win The Voice. Watch Cassadee’s performance below.
