Frank Ocean‘s “Wise Man” may not have made it to the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino‘s highly-anticipated Django Unchained as originally planned, but thanks to the man himself, it’s made its way to the internet.
The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter debuted the soulful tune on his official Tumblr page last night, saying, “django was ill without it.” Not long after the post with the “Wise Man” audio, he followed-up with the track’s lyrics. “Wiseman closed his mouth/Madman closed his fist/Young man shows his age/Judge man named his sin,” Frank opens the song with.”…I bet your mother would be proud of you.”
“Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn’t a scene for it,” Tarantino said in a press release, explaining why “Wise Man” wasn’t included on the soundtrack, which features songs by Rick Ross and John Legend. “I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that’s not why he wrote it and not his intention. So I didn’t want to cheapen his effort. But, the song is fantastic, and when Frank decides to unleash it on the public, they’ll realize it then.”
