As families all across the world celebrate Christmas today, many of their thoughts and prayers are shifting to the families who lost loved ones during the horrific Newtown, CT shooting that happened just over one week ago. Singer/songwriter and X Factor USA judge Demi Lovato used music to express her thoughts by covering Alabama‘s beautiful song “Angels Among Us.”
In the video, Demi stands in a room surrounded by candles as she sings. Accompanying Lovato’s beautiful tribute video is the message: “We can never imagine what the families in Newtown, CT are experiencing right now. And while there is nothing we can do to replace their loss, we can stand together and support them during this difficult time. This song is in honor of those angels we lost on December 14.”
Demi isn’t the only artist that’s taken the time to pay tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. During the X Factor finale, the contestants showed their support to Newtown with a performance of Michael Jackson‘s “You Are Not Alone.” Similarly, The Voice paid tribute to the victims with a beautiful rendition of “Hallelujah,” performed by the coaches — Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Cee-Lo Green — and the season 3 contestants.
