Next week, pop legend Mariah Carey will make her debut as one of the new judges added to the American Idol season 12 panel. But before the show even premieres, its already grabbed major headlines due to the rivalry between Carey and her fellow judge Nicki Minaj. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Mariah talks about the blow up and gives a status update on her working relationship with Minaj.
“It felt like an unsafe work environment,” Carey said of Minaj’s wild, profanity-laced rant that was caught on tape and distributed across the internet thanks to TMZ. “Any time anybody’s reeling threats at somebody, you know, that’s just not appropriate. Sitting there on the road with two babies, I’m not going to take any chances so yeah, I did hire more security.”
Mariah’s need for more security stems from Minaj reportedly threatening to shoot her, a claim Nicki denied in a Twitter rant. “Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho” she said. “Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz.”
Mariah Carey dishes more on her relationship with her husband Nick Cannon, Dem Babies, her music and more during the full interview which is set to air on Nightline tonight (January 7). Watch the preview below.
