Before an audience of hundreds of thousands, Kelly Clarkson delivered a rousing rendition of “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee” at President Barack Obama’s second presidential inauguration today (January 21) in Washington DC. The Grammy-winning American Idol alum started her performance with a beautifully controlled vocal simplicity before letting her voice soar powerfully at the end of the song.
You couldn’t tell during the amazing performance, but Kelly admits to being “nervous” — and cold — while taking on the big task. “Wow ….I was incredibly nervous and cold,” Kelly tweeted. “I just wanna officially thank President Obama for opening for me haha! Just kidding :)”
