It’s official: Demi Lovato is returning to the X Factor USA.
The pop singer made her debut as a judge during season two of the struggling Fox reality singing competition along with pop icon Britney Spears. While Spears turned out to be a colossal disappointment, Demi shined. She provided real critiques of the contestants and had a fun love/hate relationship with fellow judge Simon Cowell that resulted in sometimes hilarious banter.
“Had an amazing time overseas and so excited to come home and share the news that I’ll be returning to @TheXFactorUSA!!!,” Demi tweeted on her official Twitter page.
There are still two more judging seats to fill for the third season of XF. L.A. Reid announced during season two that he would be leaving to focus on running his record label while Spears split short after the season wrapped amid firing rumors.
Although only two seasons in, the show has already had a long string of casting changes. UK pop singer Cheryl Cole was axed in favor of former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger at the start of season one. Scherzinger, judge Paula Abdul, and host Steve Jones were all fired after the season wrapped, making room for Lovato and Spears to join Reid and Cowell on the judges panel, and Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian as hosts for season two. Kardashian, who has received negative reviews as a host, will reportedly not return next season.
On the musical front, Demi recently released her latest single “Heart Attack.” It leads Demi’s forthcoming fourth album, one she says will be about “the celebration of life and how rewarding it could be.”
