Another night of blind auditions continued on last night’s (April 2) episode of The Voice. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira are all filling their teams with as much talent as they can find and this crop of performers delivered the goods.
We saw a dread-head soul singer from Memphis that impressed and a country singing teen with ties to country superstars Sugarland. Here’s a look at what went down on last night’s blind auditions episode of The Voice:
Audrey Karrasch: Audrey’s a former model who became depressed in the superficial modeling industry. She discovered that music is all she needs and she’s ready to make it big on The Voice. She comes out and sings Jessie J’s “Price Tag” and gets both Blake and Usher to turn for her. Blake loves her attack on the song and Usher loves the way she moved the crowd. Audrey humors Blake but she’s really all about Usher baby! She picks Team Usher for the next round.
Brandon Roush: Brandon’s the lead singer of the band the Dirty Grindstones but he’s flying solo for The Voice. The 19-year-old performs The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends” and gets all the coaches singing along and doing their best air guitar moves. Sadly, they’re not turning their chairs. Finally, Shakira turns and bam! He’s moving on to the next round.
Patrick Dodd: Patrick is soul/rock singer from Memphis (with dreads!) that is just plain awesome. His smokey, raspy voice works wonders on the hit “Walking In Memphis” and impresses Shakira and Adam enough to push their buttons. The two coaches fight it out but he goes with his gut and picks Team Adam. Poo! Shakira looks bummed.
Orlando Dixon: Orlando wants to provide a better life for his family by doing what he loves. He’s hoping The Voice will lead to just that. He hits the stage for his blind audition by singing Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” and honestly, it is just OK. No one’s turning and to make things worse, he hits a bad note. Not a good look! At the very, very last second, Usher turns for him. Saved! Orlando’s so excited about being able to work with his idol and Usher feels he can prepare him to be a winner.
Savannah Berry: Savannah’s a talented teen who started making Youtube cover videos when she was 13. Her cover of Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” even landed her an opportunity to sing with the duo. For her blind audition, she performed Taylor Swift’s “Safe And Sound” and absolutely slays it. Adam’s got to have her. Blake and Shakira too. They all make their cases but let’s be real, she’s a country girl who admits to loving Miranda Lambert. She’s all Blake’s!
