The American Idol season 12 finale is going to be a showdown between soul diva Candice Glover and bluesy country singer Kree Harrison, it was revealed during the results show tonight (May 9).
That means Angie Miller, the bubbly singer/songwriter, who has had to overcome extensive hearing loss, was sent home.
It was an emotional exit for Miller, and a bit of a shocking one. She had been a fan favorite from the very start with her impressive audition and even more impressive performance of an original song during Hollywood week.
Her effort on Wednesday night’s live performance show was impressive as well. “I felt like this was one of the best performances I’ve seen you do,” Mariah Carey said of her performance of “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.” Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban praised how “comfortable” she’s become as a performer during her rendition of “Try.” And her final performance of “Maybe” made Randy Jackson call her a “complete performer.”
But she was edged out by Kree, who gave a powerful performance of “Here Comes Goodbye” right after her hometown visit package, which focused on the tragic loss of both of her parents, played. And Candice, who gave a showstopping closing performance of “Somewhere.”
American Idol’s two-part finale starts Wednesday, May 15 with the live performance show. The results will be revealed on May 16.
