Amber Carrington

There’s only eight singers left in the competition on season four of The Voice. Last night (May 27), the remaining artists took the stage and gave super strong performances for their shot at making the top six.

Although all of the singers remaining on the coaches’ (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, Usher) teams really showed up and showed out, there were standout moments of course. Here’s a rundown of the night’s performances:

Judith Hill – Team Adam: Judith decided to take on Will.I.Am and Justin Bieber’s “#thatPOWER” to give a defining moment performance. The song choice was shocking and a little weird but she pulled it off! She switched the song up and made it this awesome funk/r&b track and boy did she sound great on the chorus. All the coaches loved it and Adam loved seeing the artist in Judith emerge.

Holly Tucker – Team Blake: Holly’s ready to rock out and to do it, she selected “Done” by The Band Perry for her top 8 performance. She showed a much more lively side of herself with the performance and kind of murdered the vocals (in a good way). One of her best performances to date. Usher called her an incredible talent while Shakira praised her sassiness and attitude.

The Swon Brothers – Team Blake: The Swon Bros showed off their harmonies with a pretty sweet performance of The Eagles’ “Seven Bridges Road.” Usher thought they did a great job, Shaki said it was cool and Adam said he’s a fan.

Sasha Allen – Team Shakira: Shakira’s last woman standing performed David Guetta and Usher’s “Without You” for her high pressure top 8 performance. The beginning was a little shaky but she tried to keep it fun and she had some nice vocal moments throughout. Adam thought she did a good job and Blake thought it was so much fun.

Sarah Simmons – Team Adam: Sarah took on Gotye’s smash single “Somebody That I Used To Know” and absolutely slayed it. She has moments where the whole growling thing is just too much for a performance but she chose the right times to bring it out. Blake says her being able to go from full voice to falsetto so effortlessly is a real pain for a coach like him while Adam says no one has done an Adele song right until tonight.

Michelle Chamuel – Team Usher: Michelle delivered a gorgeous stripped-back version of Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” for her top 8 performance. Shakira thought it was spectacular and noted the boost in confidence Michelle sported during her performance. Adam thought it was one of the best performances of the night and Blake thought it was her best performance yet.

Danielle Bradbery – Team Blake: Danielle’s performance of “Grandpa” by The Judds was sweet and her vocals were great but it was also a bit boring. Didn’t matter to the coaches though. Shakira said “you either have it or you don’t” and Danielle’s got it and her coach Blake said she did a great job.

Amber Carrington – Team Adam: Adam picked Adele’s Oscar-winning song “Skyfall” for Amber and she absolutely nailed it! Killer vocals, great staging–nailed it! Blake said she took the diva, powerhouse performance of the night, Shakira thought the performance worked and she loved the high notes and Adam was floored and thinks this performance shows Amber can do anything.

  2. the remaining 8 contestants are all great.. im so happy that amber was able to recover from her not-so good performance last week.. she’s like the underdog here but she proved that she can be a powerhouse as well. i hope she continue to make it until final 3… danielle bradbery on the other hand is like the dark horse with her vocal prowess, although sometimes i felt like that she’s getting a bit overrated. and she sings mostly country music. it will be nice if she will try to get out of her comfort zone like what other contestants do.

Amber is amazing and I can see why a lot of people think she’s the favorite to win. Personally, I’m becoming a Sarah Simmons fan; she really earned points with me doing such a great job with “Somebody That I Used to Know”. I’m really glad I got to see it live because I would have hated to hear spoilers on it, and the way things are with Facebook, and my friends texting me, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid spoilers on The Voice. And recently I’ve been pulling a few hours of overtime at DISH in the evenings, so I’m usually on the train ride home when it airs. DISH Anywhere has been great though since it gives me the ability to stream all of my live TV channels and DVR recordings to my phone. So I was able to watch Michelle sing during my commute home and avoid the spoilers.
