There’s been a pop music emergency. Lady Gaga‘s new single, “Applause,” was leaking out in low-quality bits and pieces. So, to combat the hackers, Gaga pushed up the single’s premiere date by an entire week and dropped it today.
Gaga’s hotly-anticipated first ARTPOP single is everything we thought it would be — good and bad. It’s super pretentious in parts, yes, but it’s also fun with its 80’s vibe, it’s catchy, and it’s sure to light up radio. We’ll definitely clap for that.
Gaga will surely get a huge round of applause when she gives the debut performance of “Applause” at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on August 25.
ARTPOP, the follow-up to Gaga’s chart-topping album, Born This Way, is out on November 11. Listen to the first single, “Applause,” below:
