The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards were held last night (August 25) in Brooklyn, New York and had some incredible highs (NSYNC reunion anyone?!) and some pretty low lows as well.
On the low list was Miley Cyrus‘ performance of “We Can’t Stop.” Miley and her twerking bears filled the VMAs stage with nothing but insanity and raunch. The raunchiness spilled over to Robin Thicke‘s performance of “Blurred Lines” as Miley stayed on stage for a duet of sorts. An appearance by 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar wasn’t enough to save Thicke’s performance even as he switched gears to “Give It 2 U.”
On a more positive note, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis gave a moving performance of “Same Love” that included an appearance by Jennifer Hudson. Drake gave a hot performance of his latest singles “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Started From The Bottom” while Bruno Mars slayed with “Gorilla.”
Earlier in the night, Lady GaGa opened the show with the first live performance of her new single “Applause.” Watch the performance videos below.
