The rumors were true! During last night’s (August 25) 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Justin Timberlake reunited with the boy band that helped to make him famous during arguably the best performance of the night.

JT started out his performance with his newest single “Take Back The Night.” He then stormed through a slew of his hit singles including “Sexyback,” “Like I Love You,” “Rock Your Body,” “Senorita,” “Cry Me A River” and more.

As the lights dimmed, the music for “Pusher Love Girl” started to play. The beat then mixed with NSYNC‘s “Gone” and the reunion many thought would never happen started. Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick joined Justin for their song “Girlfriend.” After a tiny taste of the song, the men of NSYNC showed all the new boy bands how it’s done with one of their most iconic singles “Bye, Bye, Bye.”

As the guys of NSYNC left the stage and the all too brief reunion came to an end, the JT medley continued. He performed “Suit And Tie,” and closed out his performance with “Mirrors.” At the end of his 15 minute long performance, his pal Jimmy Fallon presented him with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Watch Justin and NSYNC slay the VMAs stage in the performance video below.
