Allison Iraheta may be a ’90s baby but her video for “Friday I’ll Be Over U,” the first single from her debut album, Just Like You, is totally ’80s.

The 17-year-old singer, who came in fourth place on American Idol season 8, pays serious homage to the music videos of arguably the most stylish decade with wicked splashes of color and sketching reminiscent of the A-Ha classic “Take On Me.”

The only thing bad about the video is that it makes you wonder why the same awesomeness wasn’t put into the album’s packaging. Allison’s fire and spunk are uncontainable in the video, yet the album cover paints her in a more timid, even dull light.

Matter not! It’s what’s on the CD that counts, right? (You can get a sample of the album here.)

Shakira’s new album, She Wolf, just hit store shelves today, but already she’s on single number three. To try to break the lukewarm streak she’s been on, she’s releasing “Give It Up To Me,” which features Lil Wayne. He almost guarantees a hit, right? And to accompany the song, a sexy new video starring Shakira, her hips, and a bunch of scantily clad dancers was released. Again, surefire hit material, right!?

Wrong.

Shakira’s English singing voice has always been a bit of an acquired taste, and usually she can get away with the frog-like wails, but against the Timbaland beat of “Give It Up To Me” it somehow sounds, well… Thankfully, she spends the first verse channeling Nelly Furtado in another Tim-produced song, “Promiscuous.”

And although Shakira shows off some sweet dance moves with her backup dancers, the switch from sexy Latin hip rolls to street stepper all screams desperation. And the Statue of Liberty water dance? No words!

Here’s hoping single four is much better.

Almost just as quickly as Alicia Keys unleashed the video for “Doesn’t Mean Anything,” she got to work on “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart,” the second single from her upcoming fourth album, The Element of Freedom.

Keys, though extremely talented and successful, has never really been known for having extraordinary videos. “Try Sleeping…” tries stepping away from the humdrum list of past videos, with a superhero concept and some interesting visuals. Keys has the ability to bring life to the dead, but kills anything she loves when she touches it — sounds like a show…?

In the end, the vid still suffers from being just a bit too corny, especially for a song as amazing as “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart,” but kudos to Alicia for the effort and looking  positively amazing in her purple super-suit.

The Element of Freedom flies into stores December 15.

The hype train has finally come to a stop and Beyonce and Lady GaGa’s long-awaited video for “Video Phone” the extended remix has arrived. So was it worth the rage when the video didn’t premiere when it was supposed to weeks ago? Depends on what you’re looking for.

You’ll be majorly let down if you were expecting a display of the latest in video phone technology. The video is less about the subject of the song, and seems to be more about toy guns as they appear very, very often — and in bright, dazzling colors! It’s also about channeling different looks for both divalicious singers. Beyonce goes from glamorous urban cowgirl, to sexy pin-up, to garter-belt wearing gangsta girl. She even takes on a bit of GaGa’s persona, but GaGa admittedly does her best Beyonce in the vid.

The real shame here is that GaGa is limited to only one scene and one costume. Luckily, though, anytime GaGa graces the screen, she’s unforgettable, especially in the hot chair dance sequence with the Mighty B.

Verdict? You’d be crazy not to find something awesome about this vid. Check it and see for yourself!

After a pretty rough year, Chris Brown is wearing his heart on his sleeve — and in his music. Breezy realizes he has to start fresh, and, in essence, learn to walk again. So, here, he gives us “Crawl,” the second single from his upcoming album Graffiti.

It’s hard not to associate the song or even the video, which stars gorgeous R&B singer Cassie, with Brown’s situation with his famous ex Rihanna, but he insists the song is about more than just his personal turmoil. It’s for anyone looking to make amends or come out of a bad situation and find their way back to love.

Joseph Kahn directs Brown’s very personal, touching video, which is far from the standard sap-fest of typical ballads. Even though the tempo is slow, Breezy finds a way to show off some seriously impresses footwork.

Graffiti is in stores December 8.

Not every single needs a music video. Sometimes, the song should speak for its self. Maybe that’s the route Mariah Carey and her team should have taken with her first (or second depending on who you talk to) single I Want To Know What Love Is, off her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

In the video for the Foreigner’s cover, Carey stands in the middle of a baseball field. Various people look on, their stories not quite clear. Do they feel the love watching Mariah sing beautifully about it? Later, a full choir appears–even though we’re not quite sure how they got there.

The whole thing appears rather silly and makes such a beautiful song–that Mariah did a great job covering–come off as corny.

Here’s hoping the H.A.T.E.U. video is much, much better!

Considering all Rihanna’s been through over the past year, fans might find it hard to watch the video for her new single, “Russian Roulette.” Besides, just listening to the song is tough, but you’ll wanna suck it up and click play as not to miss seeing the pop star’s most riveting video yet.

Rihanna says the song is a metaphor — sometimes in love someone gets hurt, but she’s taking the chance anyway. Sure enough in the video, she and her leading man are playing a game of Russian roulette, but who loses? Does she beat the master? Or do they both come up short? We find out while getting to see stunning, yet dark, almost graphic images play out along the way.

If any Disney darling deserves a chance at the big time spotlight, it’s Demi Lovato. The 17-year-old Sonny With A Chance star released her sophomore album Here We Go Again earlier this year and sold out concerts on here joint tour with David Archuleta. She’s now releasing the video to her second single off the set, Remember December.

This performance driven video sees the Demi rocking it out dressed in all black to the rock edged single. She’s spotted in a car with some familiar faces: her Camp Rock 2 costars. This rather pointless little cameo unfortunately highlights the problem Demi will continue to have in her career. The Mouse House has a serious hold over this youngster and she’ll have to find ways to loosen that hold (and make smarter video casting decisions) if she ever wants to be taken seriously outside the tween world.

If listening to Rihanna’s admittedly dark new single “Russian Roulette” is hard for you, watching the video won’t prove to be any easier.

The pop star once known as “Little Miss Sunshine” goes gloomy in the video for the first single from her forthcoming fourth album, Rated R. It’ll premiere in full during 20/20 on ABC Friday, November 13, but Rih brought a snippet to preview on the German talk show TV Total.

Even in the short 26 seconds of the sneak peek, you can tell the video will be replete with emotion and express some of Rih’s deepest feelings she’s repressed over this turbulent year. If you don’t feel something watching this, you might wanna check your pulse.

Electro-pop star LIGHTS has taken her obsession with comic books and video games to a whole new level in the video for her new single, “Ice.”

In the video, the normally soft-spoken sweetheart (as we learned when we spoke with her last week about her upcoming tour with Owl City) is forced to get a bit bad ass to defeat a fierce, yet evil version of herself.

Nothing is safe from the wrath of Evil LIGHTS; not a beloved keytar or even a few pet fish (don’t worry, the fish were not harmed!).

“Ice” is the second single from LIGHTS’s debut album, The Listening, in stores now.
